Audio Abba Father Chapter 2 click here Abba Father by Bobbie Powers © 2009 Chapter 2 ABBA FATHER GIVES IMMEDIATE AID "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble." Psalms 46:1
Through the years as I have watched my own son growing up there have been "accidents" that have occurred times when he has been physically injured. For example, an "accident" with his bicycle that scraped his knees at age 9 or a case of poison ivy that occurred after he, a ninth grader, explored a new "wilderness" area around the lake. As a parent, I carefully tried to protect my sons environment. However, my son was still allowed opportunities to make choices, in order to learn skills and responsibilities. I could give him training wheels on his bike and advice on not riding too fast or turning the handlebars too sharply on a turn. Yet, I could not ride the bike for him. I had to release him to experience riding the bike for himself. In doing so, I realized that if he chose to ignore "sound wisdom" from an experienced parent, who knows how to ride a bike, there could be an accident with some minor injuries.
THEREFORE--- KNOWING MY CHILD - I PREPARED A FIRST AID KIT. JUST LIKE ABBA FATHER.
The first aid kit contained band-aids, gauze, anti-biotic ointments, and even medicine for poison ivy. You see, I knew my child and his "outdoor" interests. I did not wait until he got hurt to go buy band-aids.
I PREPARED AHEAD OF TIME, SO WHEN AN ACCIDENT OCCURRED I COULD TREAT IT IMMEDIATELY THUS PREVENTING FURTHER COMPLICATIONS OR INFECTION. JUST LIKE ABBA FATHER.
In addition, to first aid preparation I always wanted to know where my son was playing. When he was little he had certain safe areas where he was allowed to ride his bicycle. I kept watch over him as I went about my work to make sure that he stayed in those areas. Every so often, I would check to make sure he was alright.
I WAS ALERT TO HIS SAFETY AT ALL TIMES. JUST LIKE ABBA FATHER.
Even as my son grew and responsibilities were added, such as driving a car, and the hurts changed from scraped knees that needed a band-aid to a broken dream that needed wise counsel and encouragement -- I was there with the first aid.
AS A PARENT, I AM STILL KEEPING A WATCHFUL EYE AND AN ALERT EAR FOR CRIES OF PAIN. JUST LIKE ABBA FATHER.
When I would hear my little son wreck his bike, I immediately went to help him. I did not think, "Did he make his bed today?" or "Did he pick up all of his toys last night?" or "Has he been an obedient child today?" No, I did not once question if he was "worthy" of my help. He was my son.
HE WAS HURTING AND I WOULD RUN WITH MY ARMS STRETCHED OUT TO HELP HIM. JUST LIKE ABBA FATHER.
As a parent if my son had an "accident", I was not slow in getting to the place where he was. Nothing could keep me back from getting help to him. I did not make a big fuss. I tried to stay calm and quiet.
I TOOK CHARGE OF THE SITUATION AND ENCOURAGED MY SON, THAT I WAS THERE, AND EVERYTHING WOULD BE ALRIGHT. JUST LIKE ABBA FATHER.
After an accident, at an appropriate time, I would ask my son, "Well, what did you learn from this experience?" You see, I did not want him to make the same mistake again. I wanted the negative to be turned into a positive growing experience for my son.
I WANTED ALL THINGS, "EVEN ACCIDENTS," TO WORK OUT FOR HIS GOOD. JUST LIKE ABBA FATHER.
PRAYER Dear Abba Father, Help me to realize that You are always there for me. You already have my deliverance planned before I ever have an accident. Help me to remember that I am no "surprise" to you. You knew what You were getting when you "adopted" me into Your family. Help me to remember that You know where I am at and what I am doing at all times. You will never leave me nor forsake me. Thank you that Your help does not depend on my "worthiness". I am simply Your child and You love me. You heal me because You are Jehovah Rophe and you cannot deny Yourself. You wanted me when no one else did and will never cast me off. Instead, You are quick to run to my aid. Thank You that You do not condemn me even when I have an accident. You bind up all my wounds and hold me until I am strong enough to walk again. Thank You in Jesus' Name, I love You. Your child.
