12 Killers of the Christian

by Bobbie Powers

Chapter 5

Your Position

Position is simply the place we occupy. Briefly stated

position is where we are at a particular time. It may refer

to a particular job, activity, or location.

We as Christians need to be aware of where we "are" at

all times. It is vital for the believer to check his/her

position daily.

There is only one position that a Christian should be

living in at all times. That position is called the "Perfect

Will of God".

God has a specific "place" for every believer in the

body of Christ. Some of us may be "fingers" and others may

be "toes". If we try to force a "toe" to be on a hand or a

"finger" to be on a foot we "mess up" and miss out on God's

blessings for us.

That is why it is so important for each individual

Christian to spend time with God and learn from Him the

gifts He has given them and where their position lies in the

body of Christ.

Furthermore, each believer must not imitate one

another. Each believer must look to the head--Jesus Christ--

for guidance and direction. Jesus, only can change us and

make us a "bride without spot or blemish".

We as Christians must also check our position in the

"Will of God". Every area of our life must be in "position".

As Christians we do not have the choice of what we will

be, where we will work, where we will live, or where we will

go.

We are bought with a price. We are no longer in charge

of our lives--God is!

Daily we need to seek God's choices for our activities

because a Christian that is out of the center of God's will

is a Christian that is danger.

A believer must never walk in God's permissive will.

Baalim did this and it cost him his life. The only source of

authority in a Christian's life must be God's "Perfect Will"

as revealed through the Bible by the power of the Holy

Spirit of God.

One way for a believer to check and see if he/she is

abiding in God's perfect will is to see if they are

experiencing the peace of God ruling their hearts and

minds. If they are not experiencing the peace of God there

is at least one area of their life that is not under God's

control. (Realize, God wants to show you what this area is

in order that He can control it--He wants you to experience

His peace and victory.)

Here is a list of questions that the Christian who

wants to be in "God's Perfect Will" may need to ask God.

Be sure to wait for God's response to each question------You

may need a paper and pencil to write down what He tells you.

Remember God wants you to be in His perfect will more than

you desire it.

GOD AM I WHERE YOU WANT ME IN THE BODY OF CHRIST?

DO I KNOW WHAT GIFTS YOU HAVE GIVEN ME?

AM I SERVING IN THE CHURCH ACCORDING TO WHAT YOU WANT

ME TO DO?

AM I CALLED TO FULL TIME SERVICE OR AM I TO BE A

LAYPERSON?

AM I IN THE CORRECT VOCATIONAL JOB TO GLORIFY YOU?

AM I CONCENTRATING ON PROVIDING A LIVING OR AM I

CONCENTRATING ON YOU?

AM I EXACTLY WHERE YOU WANT ME AT THIS POINT IN MY

LIFE?

AM I PUTTING MY FAMILY'S WELFARE ABOVE YOUR PERFECT

WILL FOR MY FAMILY?

AM I SELECTING FAMILY SOLUTIONS RATHER THAN LETTING YOU

LEAD ME THROUGH THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT?

AM I WORRYING RATHER THAN PRAYING OVER MY CHILDREN?

AM I FEARFUL, RATHER THAN TRUSTING YOU, IN ANY AREA OF MY

LIFE?

IF I AM SINGLE, AM I ASKING YOU TO MAKE THE CHOICE

OF WHETHER I SHOULD GET MARRIED OR REMAIN SINGLE?

IF I AM TO BE MARRIED, AM I WILLING TO ALLOW YOU TO

CHOOSE MY MATE?

AM I ONLY ALLOWING YOU TO MAKE MOST OF THE MAJOR

DECISIONS IN MY LIFE AND I AM HANDLING THE REST?

AM I IN THE CENTER OF YOUR PERFECT WILL?

We as Christians must never allow anything to get us

out of God's "Perfect Will". Distractions and temptations

will come, but by reading God's Word and spending time

talking with God daily, the Holy Spirit will guide us and keep us

safe in the perfect position--the center of God's Will.
