Chapter 10

God’s Glory

Many trials and persecutions come to Christian leaders.  The Bible states that many are the afflictions of the righteous, but that the Lord deliverth him out of them all.  What wonderful news to know that a Christian leader can come through any situation victorious

A minister’s wife is not to walk around with a “long” face and an attitude of despair.  This is not Biblical and does not edify anyone.  Instead the minister’s wife should be walking in joy and beholding God’s glory and power in her daily life.

I Peter 1.3-9 states:

“ Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ who according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a living hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.

To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,

Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

In this greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold trials,

That the trial of our faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire might be found unto praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ,

Whom, having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory,

Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.”

Peter was speaking the above message to Christians whom Nero would blame for burning Rome.  Peter, Paul, and many believers would lose their lives during this time of persecution.  Yet, look at what the scriptures say about their being overcomers.

Ministers wives need to be overcomers.  They need to walk in places the way Jesus Christ would walk.  Minister’s wives need to be able to look at a situation and assess the situation using Biblical guidelines.  Feelings, emotions, and intellect are not to be relied on in trials or difficult situations.  All decisions need to be based on the Word of God, as heaven and earth will pass away, but God’s Word will not pass away.

Ministers wives need to build their lives on the rock of Jesus Christ.  He is the way, the truth, and the life. (John 14.6) They should never build on the sand. Sand is simply little pieces of rock (silica), or in plain language: little bits of truth.  Ministers wives need to know and apply God’s Word in their lives daily.

Then the minister’s wife will be able to confidently face any situation and allow the Lord to guide her to move “above” the situation.

Christians are never to be “under” any circumstance.  Christians need to praise the Lord for being greater than their circumstances.  Paul and Silas knew how to focus their attention on Jesus while they were physically hurting and in jail.  The Bible states that God inhabits the praises of his people.  When Paul and Silas sang and praised the Lord, God’s mighty Presence shook that jail apart.

When Christian leaders join to praise the Lord and sing in their rough times God’s mighty Presence will shake their churches.  When ministers wives praise the Lord and focus their attention on Jesus, God’s powerful Presence will set them free.  Their bonds  will fall off and jails will be broken open.  Remember, the Bible states that Jesus came to take captivity captive and to set the captives free.

There is nothing impossible with God.  Wherever God is, things change and events happen.

God’s glory is revealed in Christians lives as they come through as more than conquerors through Christ.

Ministers wives must learn how to abide in Christ and to allow His Words to abide in them.   For apart from Christ “ye can do nothing.” but “through Christ ye can do all things.”
