• Is there a way to tell between true light and false light--to tell between what is God and what is not?

Yes.  The Bible states, " Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path." (Psalms 119.105)

Read the  Bible daily.  Study it.  You can find the answer to any question in the Bible. God wrote the Bible and when you read it you begin to know God--Who  is truth.  The Bible will cut through every form of deception or falsehood.  Nothing is hidden from it.

"For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.  Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight : but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do." (Hebrews 4.12-13)

For example, it is through the Bible that you learn how to try the spirits--to know if they are of God. (I John 4.1-5)

The Bible gives you the checklist so you can tell what is Godly wisdom and what is demonic wisdom. (James 3.13-18)

"Then Jesus said to those Jews which believed on him, if ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." (John 8.31-32)

"...thy word is truth." (John 17.17)
