Help in making decisions--"Is it God?"

Here are seven guidelines that will help you in deciding whether something is from God or not

  • It lines up with the Bible--not contradictory

Example-- A thought comes that it is okay to "borrow" some items for your personal use from the office you work in.--this is not God--for the Bible clearly states thou shalt not steal.

 

  • WWJD (what would Jesus do)--if you can't see Jesus doing it --it is not right for you to do either

Example-- Would Jesus lie to sell a car?

 

  • Try the spirits--don't just accept any voice, thought, idea, vision, or dream-- ask that thought, idea, voice, vision, or dream if it confesses that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh and listen to the response that you hear I John 4.1-3

 

  • Found in the Bible--every vision or dream --no matter how unusual--you will find it described somewhere in the Bible--God never works apart from His Word

Example-- You have a vision or dream--you think it is God--at some point in the hours, days, months, or years ahead--God will show you verses in the Bible that will exactly describe and confirm what you saw in the dream or vision.

 

  • No confusion--confusion comes because you either run ahead of God or envy and strife are present James 3.16--either way, you are not in line with God-- God is not the author of confusion--He is the God of peace and when your mind is stayed on Him there will be peace.

 

  • Wisdom checklist-- found in James 3.17--must meet all criteria to be God's wisdom

But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated, full of mercy, and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

 

  • Wait on the Lord--no pressure--stay out of haste--stay out of fear--if it is of God it will come to pass at the appointed time--the due season

Example-- A thought comes that you must do a certain thing right away--fear is involved--God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. II Timothy 1.7
